Board Game ReBrand:

Beebo Goes Home

Initial Style Guide

When this project was assigned I was filled with excitement. The idea of being able to make my own board game was like a dream, what illustrator wouldn’t be excited to take on a project like this. I decided to rebrand candy land because I knew this would be the opportunity to illustrate something beautiful.

I had tons of ideas going into this project which all led me to the name space race. Seemed cool at the time.

Next class period roles around and it was time to present ideas. Big surprise to me one of my classmates had chosen Candyland and the same exact name, putting me back at square one.

I went home and and thought about it for a second “what would an alien be named?” First thing that came to mind was Beebo, my next thought “what would Beebo do?” (insert light bulb here) “He Goes Home!”

This lucky coincidence.. or happy accident as some may say :), led to the creation of one of my favorite pieces. This helped show me that the first path isn’t always the right path. Anywhooo back to the story!!

After this I whipped up some new logo ideas that just felt right, a green little alien, and a couple of patterns and it was time for us to turn in our brand identities. This was what I came up with but the project was far from over.

Finally I got to start my illustrations for the board game. It took some time but it was worth every second of it. This whole project was made from vector illustrations start to finish. Which definitely taught me alot about illustrator, which is great. But i’m definitely nowhere near done learning yet.
